Protester Attacks a Venezuelan National Guard with His Helmet

The escalation of violence in the South American country has reached new heights. With more than a hundred people dead and thousands injured, clashes between civilians and agents of the order have increased both in number and in force.

A couple of days ago, on july 10th, social media and news channels reported that a group on GNB (Bolivarian National Guard, the armed forces branch dedicated to preserve order in country as well as in borders and customs) that tried to arrest a young man accused of protesting was met by a large number of civilians who tried to avoid the man´s detention.

What´s shocking is the response of one of the civilians who, after seeing the guards retreating, decided to attack one of them - who wielded a pump action shotgun and was shooting rubber pellets at protestor - with an orange motorcycle helmet. The guard took such a hit that his very own helmet flew accross the pavement as he fell on his back, stunned by the heavy blow as his attacker ran away.

The moment was captured by a bystander who then uploaded it to social media. Here´s a version shared by a renown venezuelan comedian, George Harris, who posted it on his Instagram profile:
